Sewing Machine Operator
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assembles, decorates and/or finishes a variety of fabric products through the use of various types of industrial sewing machines with moderate specialized knowledge and skill. Will be required to meet productivity goals.
• Prepares machine for operation by proper threading through guides, tensions, needles and bobbins.
• Position parts to be joined under pressure foot.
• Start, stop and control speed of machine using foot pedal.
• Guides parts under needle following edges, seams guide on machine bed or marking on fabric.
• Observes stitching to detect defects.
• Works cooperatively with all Co-workers.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
Education/Experience:
Prefer high school graduate or GED. One (1) year of general work experience and one (1) year of experience operating a industrial sewing machines.
Required Skills:
• Ability to operate industrial sewing machine.
• Must be able to read and write.
• Must have understanding of basic math.
• Must be able to read a ruler or tapeline to understand seam allowances, hems, etc.
• Must have ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

• This job requires near constant sitting, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/grasping and fingering/feeling.
• Frequent lifting up to 20 lbs. and cervical and torso twisting.
• Occasional walking, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling and crouching.
• This job could, but rarely would involve climbing and crawling.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust/focus.
