Anchor Industries, founded in 1892, began as a small riverboat supply house located on the Ohio River. Anchor Supply Company, as it was known then, furnished oil, groceries, paint and other supplies to the steamboat trade. Due to a growing demand for water-proof covers, Anchor’s founder, Louis A. Daus, added canvas goods to the line of merchandise. Today, with 300 skilled workers and over 350,000 square feet of production capacity in Evansville, Indiana, Anchor is one of the world’s most respected producers of event, party, and wedding tents, awnings and outdoor fabricshade solutions, fabric buildings and structures, safety pool covers, fire shelters, military products, and other custom fabric and frame products.

Throughout its long history, Anchor has pioneered numerous industry-changing innovations including vinyl tent technology, aluminum frame tents, awnings and outdoor fabricshade solutions, safety pool covers, fire shelters and military products. Some of Anchor’s notable achievements include:

  • Fiesta® frame tents are credited with creating a whole new market and starting the tent rental industry when introduced in 1968
  • Creation of the Great American Flag in 1980 – at the time the largest ever measuring 411′ x 210′ and weighing nearly 7 tons
  • Century® high peak tension tents are so well known in the industry that customers ask for them by name and brides think of the word “Century” as synonymous with “wedding tent”
  • Awarded the 1988 Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year Award for the six-state Chicago Region V
  • Awarded Outstanding Value Engineering on military Temper Tent contracts
  • Anchor FUNbrella designed as original waterpark shade product
  • Ballfield covers designed and manufactured for the Boston Red Sox, the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs
  • Anchor tents have appeared in major Hollywood movies, red carpet premiers, Olympic games, golf championships, NASCAR events, presidential inaugurations, circus venues and Disney World
  • Awarded Century Certificate from Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson
  • IFAI Outstanding Achievement for Air Structures: Carnegie Hall Gala Tent
  • IFAI Outstanding Achievement for Tent Manufacturing & Design: Venetian Theater at Caramoor
  • 2015 IFAI Innovation Award: WeatherShield Wall Attachment Technology
  • Innovative Cross Star solid vinyl safety pool cover replaces virtually any existing cover on the market
  • Creation of EZ Connect aluminum frame kit-style awnings
